Mr. A. Rajbansi has fought tirelessly from 1994 for rates rationalizations in post apartheid SA. In the previous government, Indian land and housing was unfairly valued and today, in democracy this valuation has not been concrete. Our rate, especially in former Indian townships continues to rise.
The MF wants this artificial pricing to be corrected across the townships so that everyone pays a fair rate. The DA advertises unfair rates in former Indian areas but in effect they are ensuring that rates in the former White areas be prolonged to be revalued because our white neighbors would have to pay a very high price.
In former black townships similar houses in former Indian areas are valued differently so that blacks are either exempt or pay a very low rate and this is unfair because Indians can not afford to continue paying unfair rates.
The community needs to lobby government and politicians to fast-track rates rationalization, across all areas.
