Mr Brij Sewpersad officiated the Basanth Panchami Pooja at Northdene by welcoming the newly elected leader of the Minority Front, Mrs S. T. Rajbansi.
Mrs Rajbansi explained that one of the reasons for celebrating Basanth Panchami during the lunar calendar was that spring is a season for new beginnings. She stated that, Mother Saraswathi is given the highest glorification on this day because she gives wisdom of the Vedas.
Mrs Rajbansi prayed for the liberation of all departed souls because Mother Saraswathi carries our souls to our Maker, wise with spiritual knowledge.
She conveyed gratitude to Brij Bhai and the temple committee for keeping alive ancient tradition brought to us by our forefathers. Public prayer is key to unity in our communities, she said.
