Minority Front Councillors Patrick Pillay and Solly Singh are seen with Librarians Rachael Chetty, Maggie Moodley and Fortunate Ntuli and the children at the Shastripark Library.
The Ethekwini Municipality Libraries held its holiday programme for children at all their Libraries this week. The Shastripark Library was abuzz with children from the area of Ward 51. The Librarians sought sponsorships and provided the children with eats apart from the educational activities the children had to perform.
Minority Front Councillor Patrick Pillay said that the Librarians at Shastripark went the extra mile to make the children programme a success. THE Holiday programme is a success story that must continue. It brings about awareness to the children that they can have access to books and enhance their research and reading abilities.
The Minority Front supports the holiday programme and want to encourage all pupils to make good use of the Library in our area. Ward 51 is fortunate to have two Libraries, the one in Caneside and Shastripark. The staff at our Libraries are very helpful and professional. When I spoke to the Librarians, they said that they have a great passion for children and this initiative is very appropriate to bring about the function and objectives of the Libraries, said Councillor Patrick Pillay.
