The Phoenix Widow Support Group held their year-end function at the Shastripark Library on the 12th December 2011. The Chairperson Mrs Savy Naidoo said that all the Widows who attended had a great time and participated in games and challenges that was very motivating.
Mrs Naidoo further said that, “Our organization is growing and people whom are Widows come together with a common purpose of sharing and lending a helping hand to each other. Our Executive Committee Members are very excited to avail themselves during the meeting days and this year end function was an opportunity to tell all the Widows that they have a family no matter their circumstances and situations”.
Minority Front Councilors’ Patrick Pillay and Solly Singh attended the function and said that the formation of the Widows Support Group was to bring together Widows whom in most cases are faced with great challenges in the social and economic areas of society. It is crucial that people know that they have a shoulder to lean on.
