Minority Front Councillor Patrick Pillay is with Mr Perumal and Mr Vincent Anesan outside his property.
Minority Front Councillor Patrick Pillay said that the Catastrophic storm has caused major damages to the Municipal Infrastructure and private properties. The Minority Front has been inundated with frantic calls from the community in respect of landslides, flooding and driveway access damages.
Mr Perumal property became a victim a second time and the blocked stormwater servitude in his property has resulted in debris in the form of rubble destroying his backyard and damaging his driveway entrance. The great storm have created a number of potholes and sand heaps on roads which can be dangerous to motorist, said Councillor Patrick Pillay.
He further said that the Minority Front have already lodged hundreds of complaints through the Call Centre relative to potholes, blocked storm and sewage systems and the removal of sand on the roads. We are continuously doing checks of damages to Municipal Infrastructure that may pose a major problem whenever there is another storm.
Mr Perumal said that his family are very unlucky and we cannot really afford to continuously repair our property whenever the Stormwater gets blocked. Our driveway entrance is totally destroyed. We thank the Minority Front for attending to our complaints.
Mr Vincent Anesan a resident said that the great storm is unnatural and our Municipal infrastructure is not designed to cater for these catastrophes. I have been around Phoenix with MF Councillor Patrick Pillay and have many sad cases. Our City needs to seriously look into our failing infrastructure instead of taking billions of rands in loans.
